Loudness & Dynamics:
The PlenioLoudness node is designed to enhance your audio mastering process by adjusting the loudness and dynamics of your audio tracks. It aims to bring your audio to a specific loudness target, following the BS.1770 integrated loudness standard, while ensuring that the true-peak level remains below a defined ceiling. This node offers optional compression and employs a 4x-oversampled lookahead limiter to achieve the desired loudness levels. The process begins with converting the sample rate to ensure that the true-peak ceiling is maintained at the final rate. This node is particularly beneficial for achieving consistent loudness across different audio tracks, making it an essential tool for mastering engineers and music producers who want to ensure their audio meets industry standards.
Loudness & Dynamics Input Parameters:
audio
This parameter represents the audio input that you wish to master. It processes every item in a batch, allowing you to apply the loudness adjustments to multiple audio files simultaneously. The audio input is crucial as it serves as the base material for the loudness and dynamics adjustments.
target
The target parameter allows you to set the loudness target and true-peak ceiling for your audio. You can choose from predefined options or customize your settings. When customizing, you can specify the integrated loudness in LUFS (Loudness Units relative to Full Scale) with a range from -30.0 to -5.0, defaulting at -14.0. Additionally, you can set the true-peak ceiling in dBTP (decibels True Peak) with a range from -12.0 to -0.1, defaulting at -1.0. This parameter is essential for defining the loudness characteristics you want to achieve in your audio.
detector
This parameter determines the type of loudness detection used during processing. You can choose between "RMS" (Root Mean Square) and "Peak" detection. RMS detection follows the average level of the audio, providing a smoother response, while Peak detection reacts to individual peaks in the audio signal. The choice of detector affects how the loudness adjustments are applied, with RMS being more suitable for overall loudness control and Peak for handling transient peaks.
Loudness & Dynamics Output Parameters:
audio
The audio output is the mastered version of your input audio, adjusted to meet the specified loudness target and true-peak ceiling. This output is crucial as it represents the final product of the mastering process, ready for distribution or further processing.
report
The report output provides detailed measurements of the loudness and true peak levels before and after processing, as well as for each pass through the node. This information is valuable for understanding the impact of the loudness adjustments and ensuring that the audio meets the desired specifications.
Loudness & Dynamics Usage Tips:
- To achieve a balanced loudness level across multiple tracks, use the same target settings for each track to ensure consistency.
- Experiment with the detector setting to find the best fit for your audio material; RMS is generally better for overall loudness control, while Peak is useful for managing transient peaks.
Loudness & Dynamics Common Errors and Solutions:
"Invalid loudness target"
- Explanation: This error occurs when the specified loudness target is outside the acceptable range.
- Solution: Ensure that the
lufsvalue is between -30.0 and -5.0 and theceiling_dbtpvalue is between -12.0 and -0.1.
"Audio input not provided"
- Explanation: This error indicates that no audio input was detected for processing.
- Solution: Make sure to provide a valid audio file as input to the node before executing the process.
